About Our Candles

  • All of our candles are made with 100% soy wax grown in the USA.

  • Soy wax is renewable and biodegradable, making it an environmentally-friendly option. It provides a cleaner burn than petroleum-based paraffin. It also burns for up to 50% longer than paraffin candles of the same size.

  • We live in the South - it gets really hot here! - so we use a special wax blend that contains a soy-based all natural additive that increases the melting point of our wax so our candles don't soften in hot weather.

  • We use premium fragrance oils that don't contain phthalates (harmful chemicals that are added to fragrances to make the scent last longer).

  • Our candles are hand poured in small batches to ensure quality.

  • All of our candles feature wood wicks which were rigorously tested and selected to ensure optimal performance.

Tips to Get Most from Your Curioscenties Candles

  • Wood wicks produce a fantastic crackling sound like a fireplace. That's why we chose to use them! Lighting a wood wick is different than lighting a cotton wick. We recommend using a multipurpose lighter. Place the wand of your lighter at the end of wick close to the wax and run it along the length of the wick slowly, drawing the flame across the wick. Remember the wax is fuel for the flame so the wick needs to be close to the surface of the candle to stay lit.

  • The first burn is the most important! Candles have "memories" and will remember to burn up to the point of its first burn. Be sure to burn your candle long enough to allow the wax to melt across the diameter of the candle. This can take several hours. It will help prevent tunneling and extend the lifespan of your candle.

  • Be sure to trim the wick to 1/8" between burns to remove the charred wood. We recommend using a wick trimmer or dedicated nail clippers. Remove any debris from the surface of your candle before lighting.

  • We do not recommend burning your candle longer than 4 hours at a time. Small tins should not be burned for longer than 45 minutes.

  • Follow the usual candle safety guidelines - never leave a burning candle unattended, keep away from other objects particularly anything flammable, made sure candles are out of reach of children and pets, avoid drafts, extinguish properly (never with water).

  • Remember soy is a natural wax. It is common for the top to dry with a bumpy, uneven surface. This will not affect its performance.
