About Our Candles and Wax Melts

Every candle and wax melt we create is made with 100% soy
wax grown in the USA. Renewable and biodegradable, soy wax is an
environmentally friendly alternative to petroleum-based paraffin. It also
provides a cleaner burn and can last up to 50% longer than a paraffin candle of
the same size. Our 7 oz. candles offer up to 45 hours of burn time.

Because Southern heat is no joke, we use a specially
formulated wax blend with an all-natural, soy-based additive that raises the
wax’s melting point. This helps keep our candles from softening in hot weather.

We use only premium fragrance oils, and every candle is
hand-poured in small batches so we can give each product the care and attention
it deserves.

Each candle features a wood wick that has been rigorously
tested and carefully selected for optimal performance—delivering a
longer-lasting crackle, inviting ambiance, and stronger fragrance throw than
traditional cotton wicks.

Tips to Get the Most from Your Curioscenties Candles

  • Wood wicks produce a fantastic crackling sound like a fireplace. That's why we chose to use them! Lighting a wood wick is different than lighting a cotton wick. We recommend using a multipurpose lighter. Place the wand of your lighter at the end of wick close to the wax and run it along the length of the wick slowly, drawing the flame across the wick. Remember the wax is fuel for the flame so the wick needs to be close to the surface of the candle to stay lit.

  • The first burn is the most important! Candles have "memories" and will remember to burn up to the point of its first burn. Be sure to burn your candle long enough to allow the wax to melt across the diameter of the candle. This can take several hours. It will help prevent tunneling and extend the lifespan of your candle.

  • Be sure to trim the wick to 1/8" between burns to remove the charred wood. We recommend using a wick trimmer or dedicated nail clippers. Remove any debris from the surface of your candle before lighting.

  • We do not recommend burning your candle longer than 4 hours at a time. Small tins should not be burned for longer than 45 minutes.

  • Follow the usual candle safety guidelines - never leave a burning candle unattended, keep away from other objects particularly anything flammable, made sure candles are out of reach of children and pets, avoid drafts, extinguish properly (never with water or with the lid).

  • Remember soy is a natural wax. It is common for the top to dry with a bumpy, uneven surface. This will not affect its performance.
